Boston Terrier Dog appearance:
Boston Terriers have a short back, short and muscular loins and a slightly rounded croup. The short tail is set low and can be screwed or straight. It is carried level. A striking feature is the deep trunk with the broad chest and the deep, well sprung rubs. The shoulders are slopping and the elbows are held tight. The moderately long, dry neck is slightly arched and carries the head gracefully.
Boston Terrier Dog head
The skull is flat and square, free from wrinkles with a straight forehead and wide, with a length that is no more than one third of the length of the skull. The nose bridge runs parallel to the top of the skull. The lips should cover the teeth and are fairly long but not pendulous. The small, thin ears are carried erect and are placed clopse to the skull. The large, round eyes are set wide apart. The teeth are regular and slightly undershot.
Boston Terrier weight and shoulder height
This dog breed is divided into different weight classes:
- Lightweight dogs weight no more than 15 lb ( 7kg )
- middleweight specimens are 15-18¾ lb ( 7-8½ kg)
- heavyweights are 18¾-24¼ lb ( 8½-11kg )
The Breed standard gives no guidelines regarding to the shoulder height.
Boston Terrier Dog coat and Colors
Boston Terriers have a short, shiny coat of fine texture.
This dog breed comes in brindle and black, always with white markings. Bridles are preferred. White markings are prescribed in the form of a white muzzle and blaze, a white collar and white forelegs. A Boston Terrier also has a white on the hind legs, but ideally not above the hocks. The eyes are dark in color.
Boston Terrier Dog temperament
These small, intelligent dogs are playful and lively, but not noisy. They have a cheerful disposition, are full of self-confidence and are not easily ruffled. They are very adaptable and affectionate towards their owners, but not excessively dependent.Boston Terriers are alert,and vigilant but will only use their voices when necessary; they are not barkers.
Boston Terrier social behavior
These lovely family dogs usually get on well with both dogs and other household pets. Partly due to their stable, cheerful character, they make a great team with children. Although vigilant, these dogs are firendly to strangers.
Boston Terrier general dog care
The coat of a Boston Terrier needs little attention and shed very little. Run a grooming glove or a soft brush over the coat can prevent flea and ticks to come and keep the ears clean and the claws short. The wrinkles on the muzzle can be treated with a special lotion occasionally, to prevent or reduce unsightly tear stains.

A Boston Terrier is not hard to obedience training. It is eager to learn and its intelligence ensures that it learns quickly. The boston terrier is very sensitive to your tone of voice, so it is easy training dog to come or train a dog to sit command. Boston Terrier dog exercise
Boston Terrier have no desire for long walks. They are often quite happy with a few short walks each day so long as they can also play and frolic in the yard or around the house. Indoors most specimens of this dog breed are fairly quiet.Boston Terriers are a good for apartment life. On hot summer days they prefer to withdraw to a cool, shady spot and on such days it is better to leave out wild games and long walks.
