Dalmatian Original Function : dalmatians were originally used as carriage dogs ( to be decorate when running alongside coaches and as watchdogs in the stables )
These breed of dogs are appreciated all over the world as a family dog, preferably in a sports-minded family. This is one of large dog breed that like sports. You could consider taking part in dog sports, provided mutual enjoyment rather than competitiveness comes first.

The dalmatian has a powerful, level back with well defined hers. The loins are strong , slightly arched and the hindquarters are muscular and well rounded. The tail is a wide at the root, tapering to a point . IT reaches almost to the hock and is carried with a slight upward curve. The chest is not too wide, but deep and capacious and the ribs are well sprung. The dry, muscular shoulder are moderately oblique and the elbows are close to the body. The legs are straight with round bone and the stifles are well bent. dalmatian have cat’s feet, which means they are round and tightly closed, with sturdy, arched toes. The dairly long, dry neck is nicely arched.

dalmatian come in two color patterns : liver and black. The ground color is always pure white, with round and clearly defined spots that are ½-1½ inc ( 2- 3 cm ) in diameter. Ideally, the spots should not overlap and be nicely distributed. Spots on the limbs should be smaller that those on the body, The nose color and eye rims should be brown in liver colored dogs and black in black spotted dogs. dalmatians are born white and acquire their spots later.

dalmatians are high-spirited, friendly and intelligent dogs. They are sociable and even-tempered in character, very affectionate to their owners and always curious about what goes on around them. Because of this they are not suited to kennel life. This large dog breed is vigilant and will let you know if anything is wrong. Do not expect any defensive traits from this dog, because dalmatians are not aggressive.

These dogs are generally very sociable and get on well with other canine members of the family and with other dogs they meet outdoors. They also do well with children. Mixing with pets such as cats does not usually cause any problems, provided the dogs has been properly socialized. With visitors it depends on the character of the individual dog wheter it acts either vigilantly or halfheartedly.

One disadvantage of this dog breed is that it sheds almost constantly. You will find white hairs around the house and on your clothes, even out-side the molt. Loose hairs can be easily removed using a rubber mitt. The claws should be kept short.

The dalmatian is not difficult to train, but does have its stubborn side which is expected of it or when the dog loses interest in the training exercises.Praise it abundantly for desirable behavior – perhaps supported by tidbits – and vary the exercises. Firm training is inappropriate, as is an indulgent approach. Try to find the happy medum.

This dog breed was traditionally used to run alongside coaches for miles. Although they have great stamina, this does notmean you need to take the dog for long walks every day. The average dalmatian will adapt very well to family life, although the dog will certainly lose some zest for life if it has to make do with three short walks a day. Swimming, playing and running free through the woods or in open countryside will al be good for this dog breeds.
